A man whose elderly relative has received care at home described uncertainty about the company’s future as “disconcerting” last night.
Bob Turner from Wick has power of attorney for a relative, who he asked to remain anonymous.
The Wick man said his family member remains very independent, despite his age.
But he has since needed some care at home and after looking at other providers, including NHS Highland’s own in-house service, settled on White Heather.
Mr Turner, 70, said: “He wants to stay as in control as possible and White Heather have been brilliant with that.
“They are very thorough, very caring and not at all patronising which is important. They have been nothing but completely professional.”
The family has recently upped their provision from two days a week to three – with home carers helping with basic tasks around the house as well as providing help to the client.
Mr Turner described the situation with NHS Highland as “very disconcerting”.
He added: “It’s unsettling. It appears to me that it is bureaucracy at the NHS running completely out of control.
“We would have to start all over again. They (White Heather) have been the difference between him living at home which is where he wants to be and having to go into care.”
