The Argyll and the Isles branch of the organisation has been organising “Paint Your Town Purple” events across the region. Councillor Roddy McCuish offered his support by suggesting that McCaig’s Tower, along with the lights along the harbour, could be purple. Waspi is a campaign group which fights the injustice done to women born in the 1950s, who were affected by the changes to the state pension law. It agrees with the equalisation, but not with “the unfair way the changes were implemented” leaving the women with no time to make alternative plans”.
