Fire crews have been battling a barn blaze in Orkney this afternoon.
The fire broke out inside a building at a farm in the Lyness area of the island of Hoy, shortly before 11.10am.
A fire service spokeswoman said that three appliances – two from Stromness and one from Hoy – went to the scene.
She said that no one was hurt as a result of the fire which took hold of an unknown number of hay bales inside a 130ft x 165ft barn.
The spokeswoman said that a stop message was put in just before 2pm, but crews have been attending “most of the day” and are only now on their way back to their stations.
A message on the Orkney police social media page this evening also read: “Fire at Lyness, fire bridge have attended, possible danger of flying debris, stay out of the area unless necessary.”
