A Dingwall man has been placed on the sex offenders register for assaulting a girl in the Western Isles. At Stornoway Sheriff Court yesterday Robert William Dalgleish pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the girl under 13 in 2015. Procurator fiscal Karen Smith told the court the child was lying down when the pensioner “pulled her trousers and pants down and began touching her”. He stopped momentarily when the girl told him she didn’t like it but then he restarted, said the fiscal. She told her parents two days later and they went to the police. The child told officers it never happened before and she was “scared” after it occurred, added Ms Smith. Sheriff David Sutherland called for reports and placed the 71-year-old of Tulloch Place, Dingwall, on the sex offenders register. Dalgleish is due to return to the Stornoway court for sentencing next month.
