A biker is accused of travelling along a notorious Highland road at nearly the speed a Jumbo jet takes off from an airport.
Easter Ross man Louis Rozier, 27, of Fearn Abbey, near Tain, appeared at the town’s Sheriff Court and denied driving dangerously at 157mph in a 60mph zone on the A9 near Kildary on May 30, last year.
He also denies driving with no insurance on the same date at the same place.
A jumbo jet travels at between 150mph-180mph as it lifts into the air from a runway.
Trial had been set for Wednesday, but his Inverness solicitor Rory Gowans asked Sheriff Eric Brown to adjourn that trial date and set a new one.
He explained: “We are seeking to instruct an expert in this case in relation to evidential matters and we need more time to prepare.
“This is a serious case and it is more to do with the positioning of the police than anything else.”
Fiscal depute David Morton opposed Mr Gowans motion on the grounds that he was prepared for trial and it was the second postponement at the defence request.
“There are three Crown witnesses and the trial has already been postponed. Also this matter took place in May last year.”
However Sheriff Brown agreed to Mr Gowans’ request and fixed new dates later this year.
