A Stornoway man who shouted abuse at his wife hoped to reconcile with her, Inverness Sheriff Court was told yesterday.
Kevin Macdonald of Ford View, Tong, admitted behaving in an abusive manner towards his spouse, Catherine in their home at Wester Inshes Place, Inverness, on December 27.
His solicitor, Rory Gowans told the court: “I have a two page letter from his wife and there is an intention to reconcile. There is a background here.”
Fiscal depute Ross Carvel had earlier told Sheriff Margaret Neilson: “He asked his wife if she had been chatting with other men on a website.
“She suspected he had been going through her telephone and he started shouting abuse at her. He took her phone and threw it across the room after threatening to stab her. She became more frightened and contacted the police.”
After reading the letter, Sheriff Neilson deferred sentence on the 39 year old until March 16 for a background report.
