A 21 year old homeless man who repeatedly defied a court order to do unpaid work was jailed for a total of 10 months yesterday.
Ryan Grant, who previously stayed at Rossal House, Island Bank Road, Inverness, appeared from custody and admitted breaching a community payback order.
It had been imposed last year for charges of breach of the peace, and assaulting three women.
Yesterday, he faced fresh charges of attempting to break into a car in Hill Street, Dingwall, on February 16 this year with intent to steal.
The court was told he was abusive and swore at a woman who had seen him and challenged him. He admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.
Later the same day, the court heard, Grant was seen to approach a parked car in Tesco’s car park in Dingwall and pull the door handle, frightening the woman occupant inside.
Defence solicitor Patrick O’Dea said his client had hit “rock bottom” and was abusing solvents.
