A 60 year old road sweeper who tried to kiss a woman on a bus journey from Inverness to Dingwall was jailed for four months yesterday.
Douglas Thomson of Balgate Drive, Kiltarlity appeared for sentence at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday after having admitted the offence at an earlier hearing.
The court had been told that on September 21, Thomson was travelling on a bus and placed his arm around the woman sitting next to him and tried to kiss her on the neck.
Defence solicitor Willie Young told Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood that his client had struggled to come to terms with his divorce after 28 years of marriage.
“He also lost his employment he had had all his adult life. The offence took place with the background of excessive alcohol and anti-depressant medication.”
Thomson was also placed on the sex offender’s register.
