Former Highlands and Islands list MSP Jamie McGrigor has thrown his name into the hat for an Oban ward in May, for the Conservatives.
A total of 25 candidates are vying for the Argyll and Bute wards in the mid and north of the local authority area.
The last administration comprised an alliance of independent councillors.
