A wildfire in Easter Ross can be seen 20 miles away on the opposite coast, in Moray.
A spokesman for the fire service said no people or properties were at risk from the flames, which had spread across an area 500 yards by 100 yards near the shoreline at Cadboll, just north of Balintore.
The alarm was raised at 2.45pm.
A total of 20 firefighters – from Tain, Invergordon and Dornoch – were called to tackle the gorse fire.
They were using three pumps and two specialist appliances to tackle the flames.
