The north-east of Scotland is set to be battered by snow and hail, according to the Met Office, which has put out a yellow weather warning for the area.
The warning indicates that severe weather could hit the Grampian area overnight.
According to forecasters, between 10pm tonight and 9am tomorrow, hail sleet and snow showers are expected to become frequent.
The Met Office advises that heavy snowfall is likely to hit higher ground, where 2-5 centimetres of snow is possible.
In lower areas they advise that 1-2 centimetres could fall.
The weather service warns that transport routes may be affected, and that some journey times may increase.
A yellow warning is the least severe rating that the Met Office can give, but they advise people to keep an eye on the latest forecast and be aware that the weather could get worse.
The Met Office’s chief forecaster said: “Wintry showers will occur at times through Monday night and Tuesday, although impacts on the road network from lying snow are mostly likely to occur overnight and at first on Tuesday morning, particularly routes across the Grampians and northern Highlands.”
