Dozens of firefighters have been battling two large wildfires in the west Highlands since last night.
A blaze broke out at Raon Na Cuile, near Lochinver, shortly before 10pm and spread to a three mile front across the hillside.
A total of seven fire appliances – one each from Lochinver, Achiltibuie, Ullapool, Scourie, Kinlochbervie, Bonar Bridge and Durness – have been involved in efforts to control the fire throughout the night and into today.
A fire service spokeswoman said crews from Bonar Bridge and Durness remain at the scene and are “making good progress.”
Another wildfire restarted at Dalnabreac near Acharacle after firefighters appeared to have brought it under control yesterday evening. It initially started at about 12.30pm yesterday and spread to a size of about 500 acres at its peak.
Three appliances – one each from Strontian, Acharacle, Mallaig – are in attendance alongside a fire service welfare unit.
The fire service spokeswoman said both wildfires were under control but stressed that wind conditions were making it difficult.
No properties have been affected by either wildfire.
