A total of 36 firefighters are currently battling a large wildfire on the Ardnamurchan peninsula.
The blaze initially started yesterday afternoon in the Dalnabreac area near Acharacle and was brought under control by the evening, but the fire has since spread within the last few hours.
A total of seven fire appliances – one each from Inverness, Fort William, Fort Augustus, Acharacle, Loch Line, Mallaig and Spean Bridge – are currently in attendance.
A fire service spokeswoman said that a total of 36 firefighters are working hard to combat the flames.
She added that the wildfire is large as it has been “sectorized” but more specific dimensions are unknown.
She added: “A request was made at 3.41pm to make it a level 2 fire which means more appliances were required.”
Firefighters battling another wildfire which began last night in the Lochinver area have since managed to bring it under control. Two fire appliances – one each from Durness and Bonar Bridge – are still in attendance.
