Police have arrested a man after reports of a man with a gun in Fort William library.
Several buildings near by were evacuated as police put up a large cordon round the scene of the incident.
It is understood a firearm has been recovered from the scene.
Local election candidate Ian Blackford, who was near the scene, said: “I’m in Fort William myself. I don’t have details other than someone has been arrested.”
A police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a 26-year-old man has been detained following a call from a member of the public relating to a man behaving suspiciously at Fort William library.
“The man was compliantly detained and there was no threat to the wider public.”
