A pair of Oban rappers will launch their album tonight and raise money for three local charities which help young people in the town.
K9 Kev (Kevin Irvine), 29, and 25-year-old Rory O’B (O’Byrne) have collaborated with input from teenage artists in the album Vocal Heroes.
At his gig last year K9 Kev raised money to take children with disabilities on a trip to Lourdes in France.
Mr Irvine is a youth worker in his day job. All funds raised tonight will go to charities close to his heart. These include Oban Youth Café, the Soroba Young Family Group and the Scottish Autism Saturday Club.
The gig takes place in Cuan Mor from 7.30pm. Performing will be 16-year-old rapper S Mac, or Stewart McAllister and 19-year-old singer song writer Lora MacLeod, who both feature on the album.
Also playing will be the youthful band, Neon Sheba.
K9 Kev and Rory O’B recently won a public vote to perform at Oban Live next weekend. They will play at the area’s biggest music festival at 4.45pm on Saturday.
Vocal Heroes features five tracks. K9 Kev said: “I’m excited for people to hear it. Myself and Rory have been working together since 2011 and this is our first release together. We really enjoyed making it.”
Entry to tonight’s album launch is £6, with proceeds going to the three charities. There will also be a raffle with great prizes up for grabs including tickets for Oban Live, restaurant vouchers and whisky.
Looking ahead to Oban Live next week, K9 Kev said: “It has been an amazing experience winning the competition, really humbling. We didn’t think we had that much support. The rehearsals are going really well.”
