Crews were sent to the flat above Norrie’s chip shop on George Street at around 11.20am. A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed a total of five appliances and one senior officer were sent to scene. Crews from Oban fire station extinguished the fire before starting to remove burned remains from the flats. The incident caused significant traffic delays in Oban town centre and motorists were advised to avoid the area where possible. A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed officers remain on site but confirmed no injuries had been reported.
