A motorcyclist is fighting serious injuries this morning following a horror crash in the Highlands with another motorbike and a car.
The man was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness following the crash on the A87 Shiel Bridge to Kyle of Lochalsh road, just north of Eilean Donan Castle, at about 3.25pm yesterday.
Throughout the day, a 109-mile diversion was set up while emergency teams worked to the clear the scene.
The route, which took motorists from Kyle of Lochalsh to Muir of Ord and on towards Inverness before turning off for Invermoriston on the A82, would take around three hours to complete.
Speaking last night, a police spokeswoman said: “We attended a serious road traffic collision near Dornie. The incident involved two motorcycles and a car. One of the motorcyclists was airlifted to hospital.
She added: “In terms of injuries, they are thought to be serious and potentially life-threatening.
“The road is closed and we are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible.
A Scottish Ambulance spokesman said: “We received a call at 3.29pm to attend a road traffic collision on the A87 near Dornie.
“We dispatched one crew member and our helimed air ambulance to the scene.
“One male patient was taken to Raigmore Hospital by coastguard helicopter.
