A man has died after taking unwell while walking on Skye.
The 61-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene near the MacLeods Maidens sea stacks in Uig Bay.
Police were alerted to the situation at about 3.05pm on Tuesday
A coastguard rescue helicopter attended the location however the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Skye Mountain Rescue Team were also alerted but were not called out to the scene.
It is understood that the man, who is local to Skye, was with his wife and a friend.
The alarm was raised by another walker with a satelite phone who came across them.
A police spokeswoman confirmed there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
She added: “As with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Meanwhile a search was mounted early today for a reported over due walker on Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain.
Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team and the Inverness-based coastguard search and rescue helicopter were sent after the alarm was raised by his concerned family at 6.25am.
However, the walker, who was in his 20s, was found safe and well in a youth hostel.
