Progress at GlenWyvis Distillery as second share offer set to launch

A community-owned Highland distillery has reached a milestone in construction and investment.

The steel frame of GlenWyvis Distillery is now part of the townscape of Dingwall.

A second share offer will also be launched next month, opening the door to new members.

GlenWyvis already has more than 2,600 members but there has been continued demand from local residents and visitors who want to invest.

Glenwyvis Distillery founder and managing director, John McKenzie, said: “The new share offer will launch in August, opening up the opportunity to own a whisky distillery to a new audience.

“People are always asking us if they can invest, having missed the original share offer in 2016, and this new share offer will help us to fast-track our brand development plans. New investment will also help to reduce commercial lending, so we can deliver on our community benefit remit sooner.”

The construction work on the distillery, at Upper Dochcarty, has also reached another milestone with the completion of the building’s steel frame by local firm James Evans and Sons Ltd.

Contractors are currently fitting the cladding, in preparation for the arrival of the stills later in the month.

Forsyths Ltd have manufactured the distilling equipment, currently being stored at their Rothes workshop, which they will install the week beginning July 10.

This is a big step forward in the distillery’s bid to have its first run of spirit before Christmas.

As the building work continues, GlenWyvis is continuing to attract visitors and locals to GlenWyvis Basecamp, the interim visitor reception space, in Dingwall High Street.

Located inside the Victioria Resataurant, Basecamp features in the newly launched North Coast 500 passport scheme – and is one of 25 recommended stops on the popular touring route.

Basecamp will also host its first GlenWyvis tasting on Thursday, July 13 as part of Dingwall Gala week.

After this, tastings will be on offer throughout the summer, and if visitors are looking for something more casual they can now enjoy a drink at the bar in Basecamp too.

For more information on tastings at GlenWyvis Basecamp and the upcoming open share offer, contact the distillery directly on info@glenwyvis.com or keep an eye on its social media channels.
