An elderly climber was airlifted off a Munro in the West Highlands yesterday afternoon.
The man in his 70s had fallen on Garbh Chioch Mhor in Glendessarry, near Loch Morar.
He was taken off the mountain by crew on the Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based in Inverness and flown to hospital.
A police spokesman said: “We received a call just after 1.30pm to say a man in his 70s had fallen on Garbh Chioch Mhor.
“He was not seriously injured but was unable to make his own way off the mountain.
“The Inverness search and rescue helicopter was called in and airlifted him to safety.
“He was then flown to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.”
Garbh Chioch Mhor, which is a rough and rocky ridge on the edge of Knoydart, Lochaber, is described as being one of Scotland’s best Munros – mountains over 3,000 feet high.
