An investigation is under way after a small plane was forced to make an emergency landing close to a reservoir in Lochaber.
The male pilot and his passenger managed to escape unhurt following the incident which happened near Kinlochleven.
The Piper Cub aircraft is now understood to be stuck in a bog near the Blackwater reservoir. The reservoir – over nine miles long and 75 feet deep – is situated behind the longest dam in the Highlands in the mountains above the Lochaber village.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s helicopter, based at Inverness, picked up the two men at the scene.
The pilot’s emergency call was picked up by air traffic controllers based at Prestwick Airport in Ayrshire.
It is understood that the distress call was relayed to the Distress and Diversion Emergency Centre at the RAF Swanwick base near Southampton by the crew of an easyJet passenger aircraft.
The Air Accident Investigation Branch confirmed it was still investigating the incident.
