Police are investigating reports of a man acting in a potentially suspicious manner in a car park off Ackergill Street in Wick.
The man’s behaviour caused concern to several children playing in the car park at the new Noss Primary School at about 10pm on Tuesday.
He did not make contact with the children or speak to them but officers are now working to establish the circumstances.
The man has been described as being about 5ft 6in tall and of thin build.
He appeared to be about 30 with dark skin, a black moustache or beard and short black hair.
At the time he was wearing a blue furry jumper, black shoes, white earphones and he was possibly wearing glasses.
Inspector Marlene MacDonald said: “Local officers have been carrying out inquiries in the area to help provide reassurance to the public.
“It should be noted that the matter may be innocuous but we are keen to establish what has happened.
“If the man involved recognises himself from the description then please get in touch.
“I would also urge anyone who may have seen someone behaving in a potentially suspicious manner in the area to make contact.
“Call police on 101 if you have information or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
