Police are appealing for witnesses after a catering van was discovered on fire in a lay-by on the A9.
Emergency services were alerted at 4.44am this morning and headed to the vehicle which was parked north of the Cromarty Bridge.
The fire was extinguished and nobody was injured.
However, the catering van was extensively damaged as a result of the blaze, which is currently being treated as unexplained.
Detective Constable John Beverly said: “We are looking to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time who may have information which could help us establish what has happened.
“Anyone who can help should call police in Alness on 101, quoting reference NE11972 /17, or information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
