Around 50 classic cars provided a souped-up spectacle in Oban town centre yesterday.
The annual Motor Fest, organised by Oban and District Classic Vehicle Club, moved from its normal base at Mossfield to Station Square.
The keenly-anticipated event was organised in conjunction with the local business improvement district company, Bid4Oban.
Kevin Devine, chairman of the classic vehicle club, said: “It went very well. The last three years it has been held up at Mossfield park which is a bit further out.
“We couldn’t have it there this year because they have grassed over the blaes pitch we used to use.
“The new town centre location attracted a lot more people than we would normally get. It was a lovely day and the weather certainly helped.
“We had cars from Tarbert, Ardrishaig and Lochgilphead as well as Perth and Crieff.
“There was a good selection of vehicles. We had everything from a 1927 Ford Model T up to modern classics from the 80s.
“We also had some old motorbikes and a restored Massey Ferguson tractor as well.”
Some German tourists driving an old American estate Detomaso 4.2 litre V8, who happened to be passing, parked up for lunch and opened their bonnet to let the crowds admire it.
This attracted a lot of attention and summed iup the exhilarating atmosphere of the festival.
Andy Spence, chief executive of Bid4Oban, said: “It was absolutely fantastic. The feedback we were getting from everybody was what a fantastic location it was this year.
“The weather played a huge part. There was a real buzz about the place.”
