Vandals caused “irreparably” damage to two memorial benches sitting in the Rose Garden on Tain High Street.
The incident occurred sometime between midday on Friday, September 29 and 7am yesterday.
The benches are each valued in the region of £300.
Constable Andrew Shepherd said: “To cause this kind of damage at a valuable community facility is a completely mindless and unacceptable act.
“I would urge anyone with information to contact police in Tain by calling 101, quoting reference NE14611/17, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
