Two teenagers hit the right note with the judges at the Mod yesterday as they picked up prizes for their solo singing.
The event was staged at the Duncansburgh Macintosh Parish Church in Fort William and Ruairidh Gray won the Skelmorlie and District Highland Association Quaich, while Angus Mclean received the James C. MacPhee Memorial Medal.
Ruairidh, 15, from South Uist, said: “I won the contest for first prize at previous Mods, as I was lucky to win at Oban in 2015. I have been singing all my life as both sides of the family are musical. I fly down to Glasgow once a month to attend the Royal Conservatoire of Music. I really want to do something with music when I leave school.”
Angus, 13, from Kilmartin in Argyll, has been singing for the past five years. He said: “This is my third Mod, but it’s the first time that I’ve won a medal.”
