A man has been pulled from the water and is in a serious condition in hospital after a car reportedly plunged into Wick Harbour.
A police spokesman said that the incident was reported shortly after 10.20am this morning. Police dive teams were also sent to the scene.
The spokesman said: "Police Scotland and partners in the emergency services are currently responding to reports of a vehicle in the water at Wick Harbour.
"A man has been rescued from the water and taken to Caithness General Hospital for treatment. He is currently described as being in a serious condition."
A coastguard spokesman said that two coastguard teams – from Wick and Duncansby – were called to the scene along with Wick lifeboat.
A fire service spokesman said that their water rescue boat was also tasked but was quickly stood down.
