A stretch of one of Scotland’s busiest roads has reopened following a crash earlier today.
Two people were taken to hospital after a serious two-vehicle collision on the A9 Perth to Inverness road, between Dalwhinnie and Blair Atholl, at around 1pm.
Emergency services including the air ambulance headed to Dalnaspidal, and the road was closed to allow for investigations to take place.
Police have now confirmed that the stretch has now reopened, but that delays could still be expected.
A spokesman said: “It will take quite some time to clear all the build-up of traffic, but it has stopped snowing and the conditions are less problematic than they were earlier.”
A fire spokesman said they sent two appliances from Pitlochry and Kingussie to the scene this afternoon.
Firefighters used cutting gear to release one casualty from a vehicle.
It is understood two people are injured, one seriously.
A Scottish Ambulance Services spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 12.55pm today to attend a collision on the A9 at Dalnaspidal.
“We dispatched two ambulances, our Helimed air ambulance, our special operations response team, the trauma team and a manager to the scene.
“Two patients were transported by road to Ninewells Hospital.”
