Snow showers not as heavy but expected to continue across north-east

The Met Office’s Aberdeen-based forecaster, Stuart Brookes, said snow showers will not be as heavy today but are expected to continue in most parts of the region.
He said that there will be a drier spell tonight but stressed this could lead to a severe frost overnight with less wind.
Mr Brooks said that there will be occasional snow showers on Thursday and Friday but, on Friday, snow will be confined to a few miles inland from more coastal, far north areas.
The Met Office website itself says that there is likely to be more sleet and hail in coastal areas and warned that snow will drift on higher ground.
Travel delays are expected as well as possible power cuts in remoter areas.
Mr Brooks said that the weather is expected to settle down from late Friday into Saturday but there will be a very sharp frost overnight as temperatures dip.
The Met Office also warns that, later this week, roads and pavements will turn icy and create the risk of accident or injury.
Snow depths recorded in the Highlands and Islands yesterday ranged from about 1ins in Stornoway to 6ins in Aviemore and Tulloch Bridge.
