Two skiers who went missing on the Cairngorms mountain range have been found “safe and well.”
The men, in their late 40s, braved temperatures of at least minus 10 degrees C near the summit of Ben Macdui.
A rescue team of four from Cairngorms Mountain Rescue team alongside an RAF Lossiemouth rescue aircraft and coastguard helicopter found the two skiers, from the Inverness area, this morning and air lifted them back to the mountain rescue base.
CMRT pleased to say that the missing persons have been located safe and well by Rescue Aircraft 951 and have been airlifted back to the rescue Base. CMRT extend thanks to all the agencies involved.

The search for the pair began last night and resumed this morning after being suspended over night.
CMRT have started deploying onto hill. RAF Lossiemouth MRT also in attendance. Rescue Aircraft 951 currently searching plateau prior to uplifting MR teams. Braemar MRT tasked to search from the south side of the plateau. Updates asap.

The men dug a snow hole just below the 4295ft high summit and waited there before they were found around 8am this morning.
