Police in Orkney are taking to social media posting safety poems with a Valentine’s Day twist.
The safety poems are a warning to the results of committing crime.
It’s important to safely drive,
Avoids injuries and stay alive,
Watch the roads and do not speed,
Cops will get you if you exceed. https://t.co/vVdupQID2K pic.twitter.com/qnQlpI608H— OrkneyPolice (@OrkneyPolice) February 14, 2018
Using a quatrain style, with four lines and alternate rhymes, the poems tackle themes of theft, domestic abuse, possession of drugs and online safety.
In the build up to #ValentinesDay we at Orkney Police will be putting out a series of ‘romantic’ keeping safe poems and messages.
Roses are red
Our flashing lights are blue
Commit an offence

There once was a boy from the Isles,
Who used Snapchat to send more than just smiles,
He thought it was healthy,
To send intimate selfies,
They were screenshotted and shared for a while. #thinkbeforeyousend #choicesforlife #keepingorkneysafe— OrkneyPolice (@OrkneyPolice) February 12, 2018
When a cold caller makes it their mission,
For your bank details they will be phishing,
Just look out for the danger,
Don’t give them out to a stranger,
Or your money could all soon be missing.Don’t give out personal info unless you are certain of the identity of the caller

The Street Pastors come out in all sorts of weather,
Stop them and chat, they’re great for a blether,
Giving up their time to look out for you,
A great big thanks for the fab work they do. #keepingorkneysafe pic.twitter.com/dju5y340Fs— OrkneyPolice (@OrkneyPolice) February 14, 2018
