The Script entered Scotland’s ‘Hall of Fame’ with a vengeance when the three-piece band put on electrifying performance in Aberdeen on Saturday.
Since their debut seven years ago at the AECC, they have gone from strength to strength and, as they finished the Scottish leg of their Freedom Child World Tour, the band were at the height of their powers.
As the curtain on their long-awaited return lifted, 8,500 fans erupted into applause and bellowing screams while the Dublin-born group performed a number of their chart-topping hits spanning their five studio albums.
Opening the show with their popular hit Superheroes, the band got up close and personal with fans on a smaller stage at the rear of the venue, before wandering through the crowds taking pictures to reach the venue’s main stage.
A career-spanning set list included Breakaway, The Man Who Can’t be Moved, If You Could See Me Now, For the First Time and Paint the Town Green.
Hits from their new latest studio album Freedom Child also saw the stadium erupt, with stand-out tracks including No Man is An Island and their latest singles Rain and Arms Open bringing the house down.
From start to finish, the gig oozed with positive energy and highlighted issues the band holds dear through their music, in a bid to raise money for A Sense of Home; a charity which aims to eradicate poverty among foster children.
As the curtain came down around 10.20pm, the excited crowd was left screaming for more – even after a 15-minute encore by the trio, with the band eager to make a triumphant return to the city in the future.
