A woman has died following an incident with a forklift in a Scalloway harbour in Shetland. Karen Allan, 61, died last night as a result of her injuries sustained in an industrial incident involving a forklift truck in Scalloway last month. The incident happened shortly after 11.40am on Wednesday, January 31 at Blacksness Pier. Mrs Allan was on foot at the time of the incident. She was initially taken to Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick before being transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Road policing senior investigating officer Sergeant Donnie Mackinnon said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mrs Allan at this time. “Police enquiries are ongoing in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive to establish the full circumstances of the collision. “A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
