Communities have been given an extended deadline to apply for funding in Merkinch after a surge in public interest.
Submissions for the Building a Stronger Merkinch Participatory Budgeting will now be excepted until 5pm tomorrow, giving local organisations the opportunity to apply for funding of up to £2,500.
In total £20,000 is being made available for grants by the Merkinch Community Council to help finance local projects in desperate need of urgent funding; with grants of between £200 and £2,500 being awarded.
Any local community, voluntary or non-profit group can apply; projects can be large or small and the only criteria are that projects be based in the Merkinch Community Council area and will be of benefit to residents.
The community will get to vote for the best ideas at an event to be held on March 24 in the Merkinch Community Centre.
