Dog rescued after becoming trapped on Skye hillside

A dog has been rescued on Skye after becoming trapped on a hillside.

The Bull Mastiff became trapped on the Quiraing hillside around 4pm, sparking a rescue operation lasting several hours.

Four volunteers from Skye Mountain Rescue team joined four members of Stornoway Coastguard and officers from Police Scotland in a bid to rescue the trapped dog.

It is understood a person tried to get down to retrieve the dog from the ledge but was unable to reach him safely.

Police received the call at 3.42pm following reports of a dog stuck on the hillside.

The dog was brought back to safety and reunited with his owners.
