Highland MSP Kate Forbes hopes to encourage greater support for families with Down’s Syndrome.
The Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch MSP will tomorrow participate in a debate marking Down’s Syndrome Awareness week, which runs this whole week.
Kate Forbes MSP said: “Down’s Syndrome has been part of my life since I have a family member with it.
“It is important that every year there is a day to raise public awareness of Down’s Syndrome so that wider society can better understand Down’s Syndrome.
“Some of my happiest moments have been with people with Down’s Syndrome, although that isn’t to say that it is not challenging at times too.
“There is so much work to be done to fight for the rights, accessibility and welfare of people with Down’s Syndrome.
“It is clear, for example by the figures of terminations, that parents need greater support and better awareness of Down’s Syndrome.”
