Police in Easter Ross have issued warnings to two teenagers in connection with a fire-raising incident at Coulhill Woods in Alness at the weekend.
Police were called to the area on Sunday evening after local residents witnessed a large industrial bin on fire.
The two teenage boys have now been issued with restorative police warnings – an official process for young people up to the age of 17 designed to deter them from the committing further offences while diverting them from the criminal justice system.
Sergeant Jim Mackay said: “It should go without saying that deliberately setting fires is dangerous – you have no idea of how they may develop.
“It has been well publicised that we will not tolerate anti-social behaviour and other associated offending in the Alness and Invergordon area.
“I’m grateful to the community for their ongoing support and would like to reassure residents that we remain committed to taking the appropriate action against anyone found to be committing offences, regardless of their age.”
Anyone with concerns should contact Police Scotland on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
