Dozens of desperate Calor Gas customers across the Highlands have been left without power because of a serious supply shortage.
People have been waiting days and sometimes even weeks to get deliveries as Liquid Natural Gas (LPG) has run short.
Now one Drumnadrochit B&B owner – who has had to shut her doors to guests – has called for on the firm to pay compensation.
Fiona Urquhart, 59, is completely out of gas and out of pocket because she has had to turn away business from her guest house.
Her supply ran out last Saturday evening despite having a telemeter to alert Calor when her store of LPG hit 25%.
The businesswoman has been with Calor for 30 years but is now considering other options such as oil or eco-heat sources.
She said: “We got a letter through the door warning there were problems so my husband went out to check and said we are running on empty. Everything went off after that.”
Despite phoning on a daily basis there have been no deliveries leaving the couple without heating in temperatures that have dipped as low as -6C.
She said: “I feel very let down by Calor, you would think with the telemeter system you would have security but it is not there.”
Mrs Urquhart now fears her business will be affected as she has had to refund guests from Singapore half their bill because the heating was off.
After turning away much needed custom in the week, she is considering arranging for guests with reservations to stay elsewhere.
She said: “At this time of year you do not get a lot of trade and I am starting to panic with Easter weekend coming up.
“We’re going to have to try and find places for these guests that reserved if there are no deliveries.”
A spokesman for Calor Gas said the company believes that around 35 households are without delivery.
He said: “We apologise unreservedly to any of our customers who have been impacted by our delivery backlog and who are out of gas.
“The past weeks have seen the whole LPG industry impacted by exceptional conditions due the temporary closure of the Forties pipeline.”
