Two wards at Raigmore Hospital have reopened to visitors just days after being placed into quarantine due to the norovirus outbreak.
Wards 7A and 6C returned to normal over the weekend following their closure last week.
Ward 6C was closed to new admission and visitors on Wednesday after several patients began experiencing diarrhoea and vomiting, with 7A closing the following day.
Visitors are now able to visit patients in each of the reopened wards, with the restrictions of only two people per patient remaining in place.
An NHS spokeswoman said: “Visiting to the closed wards is suspended and we are asking that visiting to other areas within the hospital is restricted to two visitors per patient and would once again request that children do not visit the hospital.
“We would ask that all non-essential visitors stay away from the hospital. However, if you feel that visiting one of the closed wards is essential, please contact the ward first by phone before coming to hospital. Please do not visit the ward unless by prior arrangement with the nurse in charge.
“We are also asking for support from the public to help prevent the spread of norovirus into other wards in Raigmore Hospital.”
Two other wards – ward 2A and 2C – still remain closed as patients continue to battle the symptoms of the virus.
NHS Highland previously suspended access to each of the wards in a bid to contain the virus and prevent it spreading to patients and visitors.
The closures come just weeks after 500 operations were cancelled due to dust contaminations and cracks in the theatre walls.
