Team GB Athlete Polly Swann was in Fort William yesterday for the opening of Aldi’s new Fort William store.
The store, located in the town’s North Road, opened its doors to the public at 8am with the first 30 shoppers receiving a free bag of fruit and veg.
After opening the store, Olympic silver medallist Polly Swann said: “Aldi has been so supportive in the lead up to Tokyo 2020 through its partnership with Team GB, so it’s great to be able to give something back. I think it’s really important that children receive a healthy, balanced diet to give them the energy to engage in learning and become the future stars of Team GB.”
The new store is providing 18 jobs with 240 shared car-parking bays also generated to accommodate for local shoppers.
Store Manager Arnas Lukosevicius said: “It’s been great to have Polly with us this morning, everyone was in good spirits and there was a great buzz around the store – a successful morning all round.
“We’d like to thank everyone who came down to take part in our grand opening and we look forward to meeting new customers in the coming weeks and months.”
