A sewer upgrade in the centre of Strathpeffer is now complete following a number of closures to the A834.
The £5,000 project first began in January, closing a section of the A834 for several weeks. A further two day closure was imposed earlier this month to enable the final reinstatement of the road; implementing a temporary diversion for cars and light vehicles.
The work was undertaken on Scottish Waters behalf by alliance partners amey-Black & Veatch (aBV), to ensure the network could continue to serve customers and protect the environment for future generations.
Gavin Steel, of Scottish Water, said: “We are pleased this important project has been completed on schedule and at the time of year that was identified in consultation with the community to reduce the disruption involved. aBV and their contractors Morrison Construction and FET have worked hard to deliver the work and overcome the challenges involved.
“I would like to thank local residents, businesses and road users for their patience and understanding while the project has been on-going.”
Scott Heath, Senior Project Manager at aBV, said: “Despite some challenging conditions over the last few months, including the wintry weather causing delays in finalising the reinstatement of the road, I’m pleased that we have managed to complete the overall project on schedule.
“We worked closely with the community in Strathpeffer to do what we could to keep disruption to a minimum throughout the duration of the project and are very grateful for the way local residents and businesses have engaged with us.”
