A woman has been rescued from a Highland river and airlifted to hospital.
Emergency services were called to reports of a woman in the River Moriston, near Invermoriston at 1.30pm.
The Loch Ness Lifeboat launched at 1.54pm to search for a woman who had fallen 30 feet into water near the falls – the fear was that she would be swept downstream.
A Loch Ness RNLI Station spokeswoman said: “The Coastguard tasked the lifeboat with going to the mouth of the River Moriston and to stay at that point and to keep watch there.
“By the time the lifeboat arrived at that point the Coastguard had already airlifted the woman.”
Two appliances from the fire service, one from Fort Augustus and one from Drumnadrochit, as well as two water rescue teams from Inverness and Elgin were on the scene.
Police and ambulance were also in attendance as well as the coastguard helicopter and coastguard crews from Fort William, Cromarty and Inverness.
The woman was taken to Raigmore Hospital by helicopter where it touched down around 2.30pm.
