A day care service in the Highlands has been recognised as one of the leading facilities of its kind in the country after being nominated for a prestigious award by their ‘proud’ manager.
The Laurandy Centre in Wick has been nominated in the Day Service of the Year category at the Scottish Care Awards 2018, in celebration of the tremendous work they do in supporting elderly individuals who require support throughout the day.
The original wartime building, located at the Airport industrial state in Wick, takes care of up to 20 people on a daily basis.
The winner is scheduled to be announced during the Awards ceremony, taking place on May 18 at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow; with more than 300 people are expected to attend. It will be hosted by Michelle McManus.
Manager Margaret Allan said she is proud of what her team has achieved through hard work and dedication. She said: “The team work in a committed way to support the service and the reputation is outstanding. The staff are fully engaged in providing good care and organising great activities.
“As manager, I am proud of what can be achieved through hard work and effort for the best experience for our older frail people who attend.”
A Laurandy spokesperson was delighted to have been recognised and said: “We are very surprised but thrilled and honoured to be chosen as a finalist in these prestigious awards.”
