A north schoolgirl has seen her logo design become a reality – with the help of the Black Watch’s master tailor.
Kayla Macleod, from Alness Academy, won the Military Liaison Group (Education) Design a Logo competition and was invited to Fort George, home of The Black Watch 3 SCOTS, to see her winning design embroidered on to a hoodie as part of her prize.
WO2 Eddie Nichol, the 3 SCOTS Unit Welfare Warrant Officer collected first year pupil Kayla, her mother Jen, and Tracy Robertson from Alness Academy and took them on a guided tour around Fort George, home of 3 SCOTS since 2008.
After some lunch Kayla was taken to 3 SCOTS master tailor WO2 Scott Currie, who then gave Kayla an informative insight to her design and the embroidery process. Kayla got to start the machine and was delighted with the result.
Kayla said: “I had a lovely day out, and am really pleased with how good the design looked once it was finished and on my hoodie.”
The Military Liaison Group (Education) is a sub committee of the Highland Armed Forces Covenant which meets regularly to discuss how best to support children and young people from Armed Forces families in their communities and schools across Highland.
