A 48-year-old man appeared in private at Tain Sheriff Court yesterday in connection with an assault in a Sutherland town on Sunday.
James Brown, whose address in court was given as Nairn, is facing charges of assault to severe injury and assault to injury following the alleged incident in Golspie.
Brown made no plea and was committed for further examination and released on bail. A date for his next court appearance is still to be decided.
A police spokesman said previously that the incident happened at about 6.45pm on Sunday in the Millicent Avenue area of Golspie.
The spokesman said that a 34-year-old man suffered a serious but non-life threatening injury in the incident.
The man was arrested after a vehicle was stopped on the A835 near the Tore roundabout. Armed police officers were seen on the road by the roundabout at the time.
