A 14-year-old kickboxing champion from Alness has raised more than £400 after walking 26 miles – the distance of a marathon – to get to training.
Scott Campbell battled the blistering heat last week to complete his chosen route from Alness to Inverness in just six hours and 25 minutes.
All money raised from the venture will be used for his upcoming trips to both Benidorm and Italy to the World Championships, as he has a £1,250 target to participate.
Scott’s mother Hailey Mcnaught, 40, followed her son along the route in her car to ensure he was safe.
After completing his sponsored walk, Scott was escorted into his class at Raijin Martial Arts Academy by a piper to the warm welcome of students and parents of the club.
Mrs Mcnaught said: “He said some bits were hard but he said the best bit was reaching the end. He did it really quickly, quicker than what we all thought.”
As Scott prepares for his impending competition next weekend, his mother said the whole family are immensely proud of him.
“He is very dedicated and hard working to his fighting and his fitness,” she said. “He gives it 100%.
“He did fantastic, he really did. It’s not something I could have done.
“We are absolutely delighted for him. People said he would never manage that, it’s too long, but he really did it.”
