One motorists is trapped in their vehicle on the A9 following a head on collision at Dalwhinnie.
The casualty is currently being assessed by paramedics at the scene before being extracted from the vehicle following the two vehicle crash one mile north of the Dalwhinnie junction.
A 4×4 and a car are believed to have been involved in the incident which occurred shortly before 5.30pm.
The road remains closed in both directions as emergency services deal with the incident, with reports suggesting it could be closed until midnight.
Cars are being diverted via Newtonmore and Dalwhinnie and drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journey.
A number of emergency services are currently at the scene including three appliances from the fire service – travelling from Aviemore, Kingussie and Newtonmore – paramedics from the ambulance service and several police officers.
The fire service are currently underway in trying to free the stranded passenger before being transferred to hospital.
