A distressing Christmas Day led to a 50-year-old Inverness woman getting drunk and driving her car the following morning.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told that first offender Angela Oman of Cameron Court, Smithton, had spent most of December 25 at her late daughter’s graveside before returning home.
Her lawyer, Wiillie Young, said that his client couldn’t sleep and took a significant amount of alcohol.
“When she woke she went to the local shop to get provisions and then returned home.” Mr Young added.
Fiscal depute Laura Ryan said that members of the public had seen Oman getting into her car and reported her to the police.
After police traced her to her home, a breath test revealed she was four times the legal limit.
Oman was fined £750 and banned from driving for 18 months.
