A rescue helicopter and three coastguard teams have been sent to St Kilda to help a person in difficulty on cliffs.
The emergency services were alerted to the incident at 2.20pm.
A spokeswoman for the Coastguard said: "HM Coastguard is currently dealing with an ongoing incident at St Kilda in Stornoway.
"At around 2.20pm today, HM Coastguard were alerted to a person in difficulty at the cliffs in St Kilda.
"Stornoway, Tarbert and Scalpay Coastguard Rescue Teams have been sent to the scene, alongside the HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Stornoway. Leverburgh RNLI Lifeboat are currently on standby.
"This incident is ongoing and we have no further information at this stage."
