Celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay and Gino D’Acampo created a buzz around Oban when they arrived with First Dates star Fred Siriex to film in the area.
The stars are filming the new ITV series The Ultimate Road Trip.
They were joined by around 10 crew members and stayed at Oban’s Royal Hotel.
They went out filming on a boat off Oban yesterday cooking scallops with the local malt.
Later they came ashore for a tour and more filming at Oban Distillery.
They spent the previous night enjoying a meal with their crew in the restaurant at The Royal, Blasta.
Joseph Darrah, assistant manager at the Royal, said: “They are filming in and around Oban.
“I know it is a show about food. I think they are travelling round the world. The day before they came to Oban they were in France.
“They all had dinner in Blasta, they were there most of the night. There was a big crew, about 10 of them, all having dinner in there.”
Mr Darrah said Chef Ramsay didn’t live up to his fearsome reputation.
He said: “I think at first some of the staff found it a bit scary but Gordon was a really nice down to earth guy. They were all very kind and polite to the staff.
“Gordon Ramsay must have posed for about 200 photographs with fans. Word got about quite quickly that they were here and everyone started arriving.
“We ended up having to put someone on the door of the restaurant just to keep some of the kids out for a bit and allow them peace to eat their dinner.”
Hotel management knew the stars were coming but were unable to tell the staff until last minute due to confidentiality clauses.
Mr Darrah said: “It was a good surprise for a lot of our staff. We told them to just do their best normal service so they were all normal which was good enough for them.”
The Ultimate Road Trip will be his first primetime cookery show in the UK since Ramsay’s Costa Del Nightmares in 2014.
